约翰所著的耶稣传记——耶稣应许赐圣灵
你们若爱我，就必遵守我的命令。 (14:15)
我要求父，父就另外赐给你们一位保惠师，（或作训慰师下同）叫他永远与你们同在。 (14:16)
就是真理的圣灵，乃世人不能接受的。因为不见他，也不认识他。你们却认识他。因他常与你们同在，也要在你们里面。 (14:17)
我不撇下你们为孤儿，我必到你们这里来。 (14:18)
还有不多的时候，世人不再看见我。你们却看见我。因为我活着，你们也要活着。 (14:19)
到那日，你们就知道我在父里面，你们在我里面，我也在你们里面。 (14:20)
有了我的命令又遵守的，这人就是爱我的。爱我的必蒙我父爱他，我也要爱他，并且要向他显现。 (14:21)
犹大（不是加略人犹大）问耶稣说，主阿，为什么要向我们显现，不向世人显现呢？ (14:22)
耶稣回答说，人若爱我，就必遵守我的道。我父也必爱他，并且我们要到他那里去，与他同住。 (14:23)
不爱我的人就不遵守我的道。你们所听见的道不是我的，乃是差我来之父的道。 (14:24)
我还与你们同住的时候，已将这些话对你们说了。 (14:25)
但保惠师，就是父因我的名所要差来的圣灵，他要将一切的事，指教你们，并且要叫你们想起我对你们所说的一切话。 (14:26)
我留下平安给你们，我将我的平安赐给你们。我所赐的，不像世人所赐的。你们心里不要忧愁，也不要胆怯。 (14:27)
你们听见我对你们说了，我去还要到你们这里来。你们若爱我，因我到父那里去，就必喜乐，因为父是比我大的。 (14:28)
现在事情还没有成就，我预先告诉你们，叫你们到事情成就的时候，就可以信。 (14:29)
以后我不再和你们多说话，因为这世界的王将到。他在我里面是毫无所有。 (14:30)
但要叫世人知道我爱父，并且父怎样吩咐我，我就怎样行。起来我们走吧。 (14:31)

Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit
"If
you love me, keep my commandments. I will pray to the Father, and
he will give you another Counselor, that he may be with
you forever,--the Spirit
of truth, whom the world can't receive; for it doesn't see him, neither
knows him. You know him, for he lives with you, and will be in you.
I will not leave you
orphans. I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the
world will see me no more; but you will see me. Because I live, you will
live also. In that day
you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. One who has my commandments, and
keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be
loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to
him."
Judas (not Iscariot)
said to him, "Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal
yourself to us, and not to the world?"
Jesus answered him,
"If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father
will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.
He who doesn't love me
doesn't keep my words. The word which you hear isn't mine, but the
Father's who sent me. I
have said these things to you, while still living with you. But the Counselor, the Holy
Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all
things, and will remind you of all that I said to you. Peace I leave with you. My peace
I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don't let your heart
be troubled, neither let it be fearful. You heard how I told you, 'I go
away, and I come to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced,
because I said 'I am going to my Father;' for the Father is greater than
I. Now I have told you
before it happens so that, when it happens, you may believe. I will no more speak much with
you, for the prince of the world comes, and he has nothing in me. But that the world may know that
I love the Father, and as the Father commanded me, even so I do. Arise,
let us go from here.
